wanderlust

By the sea, wouldn’t it be magic!

haiya i dont know what u want from me.

happy tuesday!

I love that my friends are constantly watching my back and spoiling me with so much love.

I want to be a better friend to them, these people who pack me chocolates and food and write me notes telling me that things are alright, and that better days will be here once again. I wish I was a better friend to the person who calls me up just to say “hello, what’re you doing today”, or to the friend who bakes and packs food with so much love it makes my heart twinge a little when I eat it, or to the person who writes me a snail mail from across the sea with the words “I miss you so much” with so much emotion it makes me happy and sad at once to hold it, or to the friend that thought of me passing by the shop selling the “pineapple tarts you really have to try”, and of course the friend who gives us girls chocolate kisses wrapped in lovely paper – a physical manifestation of your thoughtfulness.

to these people, thank you for making a commercially engineered day one I look forward to each year.

Progress check

Current ongoing 30 day challenges

  • a fruit a day (so far so good)
  • shift my waking hours to 730 am (a few lapses so far, especially if i sleep late the previous night)
  • as a corollary, sleep by 1230 am this night before
  • no air-con (the weather has been nothing short of perfect recently, and I wake up naturally with the curtains up)
  • green tea every day

Am glad my personal life is back on track after a turbulent end jan/early feb, now to do something about school.

A few other things that I want to try -

  • Incorporate more veggies (maybe a veggie day a week)
  • Write 100 words a day (I did this for half of jan, and then work got in the way)
  • photo a day (this one is tough – usually you end up taking photos of your dog)

Party in the Ong House

(from top to bottom)

1. Dog joins the party of one. Bear looks on from corner of the desk, abandoned.

2. Brother give Dog a good snuffle. Bear has no choice but to look on morosely (even though he has been manufactured to continue smiling)

3. Close up of Dog’s smug look.

4. Bear manages to climb up to Brother’s other shoulder to join the party

5. Dog is disgruntled.

6. All is well.

this week, i rediscovered my love for homecooked food after an entire week of eating out/ school food, which is generally what happens when you start to eat things swimming in oil one meal too many. also bought A Visit from the Goon Squad on P’s recommendation from bookdepository (which has free worldwide shipping by the way), but who am i kidding, really. i am never going to have time to read all these books on my shelves. I still have books left over from the time i was trying to burn the borders voucher before they went kaput (ah, i thought this was a singlish word, but it turns out it is a proper english word after all!). had dimsum mid week which was a good pick me up after evening class, though there was a niggling guilt at the back of my mind when i thought of all the work i had undone. i have alot of food posts lined up at the curated black book so you should go check it out if you haven’t done it already. the bruise on my arm is turning an ugly purple blemish, but i wear it like a mark of pride. sometimes we just got to push past the pain barrier and emerge on the other side.
